The 5-Minute Gua Sha Jawline Routine
Gua sha will not change your bone structure. What it does do — reliably, every morning — is move stagnant fluid out of the face, relax the muscles that hold tension along the jaw, and leave the lower third looking tighter for the rest of the day. The routine below takes five minutes and only needs a stone, a slip agent and consistency.

Before you start
Work on clean skin with a facial oil, a light moisturiser or a hydrating essence. A dry stone dragging across dry skin causes irritation and broken capillaries, not definition.
Keep the stone at a low angle — roughly 15 degrees to the skin — and use light pressure. You are moving lymph, not sanding wood.
The routine
Repeat each stroke five to eight times, always working from the centre of the face outwards and downwards toward the neck, where the lymph actually drains.
- 01Neck first: long strokes from under the ear down to the collarbone, both sides. This opens the drain before you push fluid toward it.
- 02Jawline: hook the notched edge of the stone under the chin and glide along the jaw to the earlobe.
- 03Cheeks: from the side of the nose out to the temple, then down the side of the face to the neck.
- 04Under-eye: switch to the flat, thin edge and sweep from the inner corner to the temple with almost no pressure.
- 05Brow and forehead: sweep upward and outward, finishing at the hairline.
- 06Finish: one long neck stroke on each side to clear everything you just moved.
How often, and what to expect
Every morning is fine. The effect is cumulative in the sense that the habit keeps puffiness from settling in, but each session's result lasts hours, not weeks.
Cold amplifies the de-puffing. Keep the stone or an ice roller in the fridge and use it on days you slept badly or ate salty food.
If you see persistent redness, you are pressing too hard or skipping the slip agent.
